Solar Electric at work and helping Native communities at Pine Ridge
Kili is a 100,000 watt, Lakota owned and operated, FM station. Located on Porcupine Butte on Pine Ridge Reservation. This multi-phase project was a joint event between Lakota Solar Enterprises and Trees, Water & People. The first phase was a 19.2kW utility interactive PV system and training program.
After a week long training in September 2019 the crew constructed foundation of the 80-module,ground mounted array. Then phase II was the installation of the 20kW solar electric system. This phase was completed with the support of Lakota tribal members, Trees, Water & People, and In our Hands.
The installation of this system couldn’t have happened without the vision, perseverance, and years of fundraising and planning by Henry Red Cloud and Richard Fox of Lakota Solar Enterprises, Jeff Tobe of Sunset Power Solutions, and Johnny Weiss.
