Despite their diverse pursuits and daily lives, modern Lakota individuals share commonalities with people worldwide while proudly carrying a profound and vibrant heritage. Their experiences, aspirations, and contributions echo the universal human journey, intertwined with the depth and resilience of centuries-old Lakota traditions and values.

Welcome to the first of many “Strong Lakota Faces”. This week’s warrior is Trenton. Trenton is a member of the Oglala Lakota Nation and is currently employed by Red Cloud Renewable as a member of our Weatherization Crew. Trenton grew up here on Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota where he attended Red Cloud Indian School. I asked him what his goals or dreams were for his future and his answer was;

“To start a successful business on the Rez.”

When asked if he had any advice for other Lakota like him that might be struggling he replied;

“Just keep pushing, and keep working towards your goals and dreams no matter what.”

Weatherization holds immense significance for Native American reservations due to various reasons. Many homes on reservations are older and may lack proper insulation, windows, or efficient heating systems. Proper weatherization ensures better indoor air quality and temperature regulation, which are crucial for the health and comfort of residents, especially in harsh climates.
