Nominate a Local Oglala Lakota Artist
One local artist or artisan will receive up to $5,000 in home energy-efficiency improvements.
Artists and artisans help keep Pine Ridge creative. Now, community members can nominate someone whose work and story deserve to be recognized.
The selected homeowner’s house will be assessed by Red Cloud Renewable. RCR will then choose appropriate improvements based on the home’s needs, safety, potential energy savings, and available funding.

This is not a $5,000 cash award.
The selected homeowner will receive up to $5,000 worth of RCR-approved home energy-efficiency improvements. The final amount and type of work will depend on the results of the home assessment.
Improvements may include air sealing, insulation, weatherization, or other measures that can help make the home more comfortable and energy efficient. Specific improvements are not guaranteed.
Who Can Be Nominated?
The artist or artisan must:
Be an enrolled Oglala Sioux Tribe member
Live on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation
Own and occupy the home as their primary residence
Live in a stick-built, mobile, double-wide, or manufactured home
Actively create artwork or handcrafted items
Tribally owned housing, rental homes, campers, RVs, and temporary residences are not eligible.
Artists may create traditional or contemporary work, including beadwork, sewing, quilting, painting, jewelry, carving, music, writing, photography, and other creative work. They do not need to own a business or earn their primary income through their art.
How It Works
Complete the short nomination form.
Tell us about the artist, their work, and their impact.
RCR will review the nominations and contact potential finalists.
Eligibility will be verified directly with the finalist.
RCR will assess the finalist’s home before making the final selection.
The person with the most nominations will not automatically be selected. RCR will consider each artist’s story, community impact, eligibility, home-energy needs, and whether appropriate improvements can safely be completed.
Individuals may not nominate themselves.
