Pre-Apprenticeship Readiness Program

The Solar Pre-Apprenticeship Readiness Program (PRE-ARP) prepares Native American and Alaska Native individuals for hands-on solar work and future apprenticeship or workforce opportunities.

Through a combination of online coursework and in-person lab training, participants build foundational knowledge, job readiness skills, and real-world installation experience. No prior solar or electrical experience is required—just a commitment to show up, learn, and work safely as part of a team.

Who Should Apply

PRE-ARP is designed for:

  • Tribal and community members interested in skilled trades

  • Individuals seeking pre-apprenticeship or workforce training

  • People exploring careers in solar and renewable energy

Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • No prior solar or electrical experience is required

Training Sequence

The Solar Pre-Apprenticeship Readiness Program follows a structured training sequence designed to prepare participants for real solar jobs and advanced learning opportunities.

A worker wearing a white hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and a neon safety vest is working on a surface, possibly installing or repairing equipment, with a ladder and safety signage nearby.

How It Works

  1. Apply
Complete the online application to let us know you’re interested in PRE-ARP.

  2. Review
Red Cloud Renewable staff review applications on a rolling basis and match applicants to appropriate training pathways. Submission does not guarantee acceptance.

  3. Prepare
Accepted applicants complete required online readiness steps before attending in-person training. This includes online courses and career readiness work.

  4. Train
Participants attend in-person solar lab training, applying what they’ve learned in a hands-on environment with tools, equipment, and instructors.
